British Gurkha Ex-Servicemen Protest in Kathmandu Over Unimplemented Supreme Court Order

Kathmandu. The British Gurkha Ex-Servicemen's Organization (BIGESO) staged a demonstration at Maitighar in Kathmandu. The organization protested because the government has failed to implement the directive order issued by the Supreme Court for three years.

They stated that the protest is against the government's failure to implement the positive verdict issued by the Supreme Court, which prevents Nepali citizens from being made soldiers of other countries. Padamsundar Limbu, the organization's chairman, said that the organization viewed the directive order issued in the name of the government on Magh 24, 2079, positively, and the demonstration was held to demand its implementation.

Protesters displayed placards with slogans such as, "UN Member States, Be Responsible for Human Rights," "Implement the Supreme Court's Directive Order," and "You Cannot Sell Gurkha Identity for Livelihood."
