Election Commission Sees No Weather Impact on Upcoming By-elections

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has stated that the weather is not expected to affect the House of Representatives by-election scheduled for Falgun 21.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that based on the analysis of the Meteorological Department's report, the election scheduled for Falgun 21 is not likely to be affected as of today.

'According to the report from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the election is not expected to be affected by the weather. We requested the department to provide 30 years of weather records, and the average indicates this situation,' he said. 'No rain is forecasted during the election period. The weather is expected to be dry and normal.'

The Commission stated that it has asked the department for continuous weather updates and decisions will be made accordingly if the situation changes. There were concerns that the weather might affect elections in the Himalayan districts. However, the government has already announced that the elections will be held simultaneously.
