Reconstruction Underway at Historic Gahana Pokhari Pond in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The reconstruction of Gahana Pokhari, one of the famous historical heritage sites located in Hadigaun, Kathmandu, is currently in full swing. The reconstruction work is being carried out under the Heritage Area Conservation and Urban Development Program, initiated by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Following a purification ritual (Kshama Puja), the reconstruction of the pond and surrounding structures is progressing rapidly under the initiative of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The pond will be rebuilt in its original style at an estimated cost of around 5.2 to 5.5 million rupees.

Additionally, work is being done to widen the footpath, construct resting platforms (falcha), increase child-friendly and green spaces, and establish tourist assistance centers. Photos: Nepal Photo Library
