Tractor Accident Kills Laborer in Sankhuwasabha, Nepal; Driver Flees Scene

Sankhuwasabha. A laborer died after being run over by a tractor in Mude, Makalu Rural Municipality-5, Sankhuwasabha. Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Prasad Mainali of the District Police Office informed that laborer Nemlal Tamang, who was working on the North-South Koshi Highway, died last night after being crushed by tractor number Na 5 Ta 7081 in Mude, Makalu-5.

DSP Mainali stated that Tamang fell from the moving tractor and was run over by the rear tire, resulting in his death at the scene. The deceased Tamang was a laborer working on the under-construction Khandbari-Kimathanka road section of the North-South Koshi Highway.

The District Police Office reported that the driver, originally from Sindhuli but residing in Sankhuwasabha, fled immediately after the incident. A police team led by Police Inspector Meghraj Aryal from the District Police Office was dispatched upon receiving information about the incident.

The Num Police Post has taken the tractor into custody, finding it parked in Num Bazaar, Makalu-5, according to the police. The accident site is located 15 kilometers away from the Num Police Post.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Mainali informed that preparations are underway to bring the deceased's body to the District Hospital, Khandbari. The police are searching for the absconding driver, and further investigation into the incident is ongoing, the District Police Office stated.
