Maoist Leader Chand Accuses New Party of Rushing to Power

Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist) General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand has commented that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is in a hurry to gain power. Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Sunday, he accused the so-called new parties of spreading confusion among the public with slogans of populism while rushing to attain power.

General Secretary Biplav also asserted that new parties have adopted a bourgeois culture, believing that ideology is irrelevant as long as there are individuals in power. He stated that those who claim ideology doesn't matter prioritize consumerist culture.

General Secretary Biplav said, 'Ideology is nothing; having a party and a leader is enough. This is the principle of those who call themselves new. What is seen now is that one should not talk about principles and ideology. This method is the method of the capitalists. Even in capitalism, this is the slogan of populism. Showing people, spreading some illusion, and rushing to gain power and get things done—this is a consumerist and populist slogan. It should not be like this.'

General Secretary Chand also reacted to the narrative being spread that his party has backed away from the unity process among communist parties. –News Agency Nepal
