Hotel Association of Nepal President Cites Underutilization of Billion-Dollar Investments in Hospitality Sector

Kathmandu. Binayak Shah, President of the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), stated that despite billions of rupees being invested in hotels, they are not being utilized to their full potential. Speaking at a program on the economic agenda of political party manifestos organized by the Nepal Economic Journalists Association (NEJA) on Sunday, President Shah requested lawmakers to formulate policies that ensure the full utilization of hotel capacity.

He mentioned that tourism and hotel policies are overly focused on employees, causing problems for business owners. 'Tourists' spending should be a minimum of one hundred dollars and their stay at least two weeks. The state should formulate policies accordingly,' Shah said. He also suggested that the Nepal Tourism Board should be converted into an authority.
