Mid-Hill Highway Remains Closed Due to Heavy Snowfall in Rukum East

Rukum East. The Mid-Hill Highway, which has been obstructed since Wednesday due to snowfall, has still not resumed operation. The District Administration Office stated that they have been unable to clear the snow from the road following the snowfall throughout Wednesday.

Around three hundred passengers stranded on the road on Wednesday were rescued. District Police Deputy Superintendent of Police Umashankar Prasad Yadav stated that efforts to clear the snow accumulated on the road began early this morning. He mentioned that snow is currently being cleared from a three-kilometer stretch of the road on the Rukum East side.

DSP Yadav further stated that the road will only reopen after the snow in the area covered by Baglung is cleared. Buses departing from Kathmandu for Rukum East, Rukum West, and Dolpa were stranded at Patihalna due to the snowfall. Passengers were rescued and brought to Rukum East on Wednesday, while some were taken to Burtibang in Baglung.
