Jumla District Finalizes Voter Rolls and Candidate List for Upcoming House of Representatives Election

Jumla. A total of 71,739 voters are registered in Jumla for the House of Representatives election scheduled for upcoming Falgun 21.

Out of the total voters, 34,280 are female and 37,459 are male, informed Dipendra Kandel, Election Officer at the District Election Office, Jumla.

Kandel stated that 85 polling stations and 110 polling centers have been established across the district, which comprises one municipality and seven rural municipalities. Security agencies are currently classifying the polling stations based on sensitivity. Election Officer Kandel also mentioned that the exact details of the personnel to be mobilized for the election from government offices have been requested.

The Election Office announced that 3,101 new voters have been added in the district. Assistant Election Officer Harikrishna Timilsena informed that candidates from nine different political parties and one independent candidate are contesting in the sole constituency of this district.

Among those who registered their candidacy are Shanti Lal Mahat from the CPN (UML), Deep Bahadur Shahi from the Nepali Congress, and Naresh Bhandari from the CPN (Maoist Centre).

Similarly, Binita Kathayat from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Gyan Bahadur Shahi from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Birkha Bahadur Rawat from the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP), Manrishi Dhital from the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party (PrLopa), Ranilbikram Shahi from the Nepal Janata Party, and Birkha Bahadur Shahi from the CPN (Maoist) have entered the electoral arena.

According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Bhakta Bahadur Rawal has registered his nomination as an independent candidate. Following the nominations from political parties and independent candidates, electoral activities in the district have significantly increased, according to the Election Office. The Office of the Chief Election Officer, Jumla, announced the publication of the final list of 10 candidates after no objections were filed against any of them.
