Leaders of major political parties bat for timely election to take country on constitutional track
Kathmandu, Dec 13: Leaders of major political parties have said that the only way to move ahead is to hold elections in a free and fearless manner.
Addressing at the inaugural session of the CPN (UML)'s 11th national congress in Bhaktapur on Saturday, the politicians said that constitutional way out to the current situation is to conduct election.
Nepali Congress Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka said that it was the responsibility of the government and the Election Commission to create favorable environment to make the forthcoming election of the House of Representatives (HoR) a success. All the political parties should coordinate and cooperate with the government and the Election Commission, he argued.
According to Khadka, creating a normal situation for law and order, and assuring the citizens for voting is the responsibility of the government.
Likewise, leader of the Nepali Communist Party Dev Prasad Gurung said that all the political parties should remain focused in safeguarding the constitution.
"The major task of the present time is to bring the constitution on track," Gurung added.
He also urged for the unification of all communist forces to resolve the country's existing challenges.
Also speaking at the event, General Secretary of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Kabindra Burlakoti stated that all should play positive role to conduct the polls in time by ending the political transition country facing.
He said that election should be held in time to bring democracy on right track since timely election was the key option to end political transition. "All national political parties should be positive for this," Burlakoti mentioned.
