PM Karki urges civil society to play role in bringing political parties onboard for March elections
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has urged civil society to facilitate in bringing all political parties onboard for creating an environment conducive for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.
The incumbent government’s main responsibility is to hold the polls in a free and fearless manner as the elections are only the way to avert the possible constitutional vacuum amid the changed political scenario following the recent Gen-Z movement, she said in a meeting with civil society leaders at Singha Durbar today.
For the polls, the government also engaged in a track-2 dialogue with various political parties, she stated. “Primarily, we are working amid three situations--constitutional stand, administrative preparation and increasing youth dissatisfaction,” PM Karki’s secretariat quoted her as saying.
