Mass Exodus from the Valley for Dashain
The trend of people leaving the Kathmandu Valley to celebrate the Dashain festival continues. According to details made public by the Valley Traffic Police Office, a large number of travelers departed from the valley within a 24-hour period. From Tuesday morning at 6 AM to Wednesday morning at 6 AM, approximately 39,814 travelers exited the valley.
Major Exit Routes
The traffic office reported that these travelers left the valley using various major routes. The primary exit points included Nagdhunga, Thanekot-Chitlang, Bhimdhunga, Chapagaun (Bhattedanda), Pharping, Sankhu, Tinpiple, and the route through Bhaktapur.
Incoming Traffic
During the same 24-hour period, the traffic office also recorded travelers entering the valley. The data shows that 32,180 people entered the Kathmandu Valley. This movement highlights the significant migration of people in and out of the capital during the major holiday period.
