Trump's Air Force One Avoids Major Accident
A Close Call in the Skies
A major accident was narrowly avoided involving US President Donald Trump's official aircraft, Air Force One, on Tuesday. The incident occurred while the plane was in the skies over New York, en route to an official visit in London. Air Force One came dangerously close to another passenger aircraft during its flight.
How the Incident Unfolded
President Trump had departed on Tuesday for his state visit to London. While Air Force One was flying over New York, a Spirit Airlines Airbus A321 was also in the air. This passenger jet was flying from Fort Lauderdale to Boston over Long Island, New York. At that moment, both Air Force One and the Spirit Airlines plane were flying at the same altitude and on the same flight path. Air traffic controllers noticed this dangerous situation and immediately tried to alert the pilot of the Spirit Airlines flight.
The Last-Minute Avoidance
The two aircraft were only a few miles apart. The air traffic controller issued a warning two or three times. After these repeated alerts, the pilot of the passenger plane finally became aware of the critical situation and changed course. This quick action prevented a major disaster.
The Audio Recording
An audio recording of the conversation between the air traffic controller and the passenger jet pilot is being shared on social media. However, it has not been officially confirmed that this audio is from this specific incident. In the recording, the controller is heard saying, "Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees to the right." The airline's crew does not initially respond. After getting no reply to the first message, the controller repeats the instruction. Upon the third warning, the Spirit pilots hear the command and change their path. At that point, the two planes were about 6 to 7 miles apart.
