New health policy needed: Health Minister

Kathmandu - Newly appointed Minister for Health, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, has said new health policy was imperative for the country.

Assuming office for the third time as Health Minister from the Maoist party, Pokhrel said the new policy would clearly identity the problems facing health sectors and measures to address them.

Issues of mental health, non communicable diseases and new challenges would be incorporated in the new health policy, he said, adding that his major goal was to implement the provision of basic health service.

He however said he would continue the good works initiated by the outgoing Health Minister. "All sides cooperation was essential to carry out the Ministry activities," he stressed.
