Himalayan Arts Festival 2025 Underway in Kathmandu

Festival Overview
The Himalayan Arts Festival 2025 is currently being held at the Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu. Organized by E-Arts Nepal, this 8th edition of the festival showcases over 140 artworks by Nepali artists, including paintings, paubha (traditional scroll paintings), sculptures, printmaking, installations, and ceramics. The week-long event began on August 9 and will run until August 14.

Inauguration Highlights
The festival was inaugurated by five prominent "Sharks" from Shark Tank Nepal, including business leaders like Cabinet Shrestha (Agni Group) and Ritusinha Vaidya (Toyota Nepal). A tribute was paid to senior artist Shyamdas Ashant, and the Prashant Scholarship Award 2025 was introduced in memory of late artist Prashant Shrestha to support young art students.

Objectives and Impact
The festival aims to inspire corporate investment in Nepal’s art sector while bridging local collectors and art enthusiasts with contemporary practices. Organizers emphasize its role in fostering cultural exchange and promoting emerging talents from institutions like Fine Arts College and Kathmandu University.
