HoR session postponed after Maoist Centre objects to government's absence

Kathmandu, March 12 — The meeting of the House of Representatives was postponed before it could begin, after the main opposition party, the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center), raised objections about the absence of government representatives.
Maoist Chief Whip Hitaraj Pandey raised concerns as soon as the Speaker, Devraj Ghimire, declared the meeting had started, pointing out that government representatives were not present.
In response, Speaker Ghimire postponed the meeting for 15 minutes, citing the parliamentary rules that require the mandatory presence of government representatives.
Speaking at the session, Chief Whip Pandey stated that the government was disrespecting the House.
"The government is undermining the House, and it is disrespecting the institution of elected representatives," he said. "Opposition members were present in committee and sub-committee meetings, but government representatives were absent. Today, they were not even present in the House."
He also emphasized that the meeting could not proceed without government representatives, in accordance with the parliamentary rules.
