Opposition leader Prachanda to address HoR; PM Oli to miss session again

Kathmandu, March 11 — On Tuesday, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the chairman of the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Center), will address the meeting of the House of Representatives.
The Parliament Secretariat has confirmed that Prachanda will address the meeting, which will begin at 1 PM.
This was agreed upon in a discussion held on Monday between the Speaker and the chief whips of the parties represented in the Parliament.
However, while Prachanda, the former Prime Minister, will address the Parliament today, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will be absent.
Oli will be in Biratnagar to address the Koshi Provincial Assembly.
"Prime Minister's address to the Koshi Provincial Assembly was scheduled a week ago. The agreement for the opposition leader to speak in today's House meeting was made only yesterday. Therefore, the Prime Minister will not be present at today's meeting," said Ram Sharan Bajgain, the Prime Minister's communications advisor.
Prachanda had previously addressed the Parliament on Magh 24 (February 6), when Prime Minister Oli was also absent.
On that occasion, Prachanda had expressed his dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Oli's absence from the House.
It is a common practice that when the Prime Minister speaks in Parliament, the leader of the main opposition party is present to listen, and vice versa when the opposition leader addresses Parliament.
