Sudurpaschim students protest against employee permanency bill

Dhangadhi, March 9 — The student organizations' protest against the proposed bill to make temporary and contract employees permanent in local governments in Sudurpashchim Province has entered its seventh day today.

The students, who have been staging a continuous sit-in in front of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers' office, have continued their protests today.

The student organizations claim that the bill limits the opportunity for open competition and would be unjust for new candidates.

They have warned that they will continue their movement until the bill is revoked.

Meanwhile, contract employees have been pressuring the government to pass the bill as it is, demanding that it be enacted without changes.

On Friday, they held a protest in front of the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, urging the bill's passage.

The bill is currently under discussion in the Provincial Assembly.

Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah has committed to making necessary amendments after consulting all parties.

However, the students remain firm on continuing their protest until the bill is repealed.
