Durga Prasai threatens to "break knees" of leaders, demands monarchy’s restoration

Kathmandu, March 7 — Medical professional Durga Prasai made controversial remarks during a press conference in Bhaktapur on Friday.

He called for breaking the knees of party leaders and expelling them from villages and towns, using provocative language.

Prasai asserted that the only option to save the country was to restore the monarchy and re-establish Nepal as a Hindu nation.

He urged people to support him in this cause.

Claiming that the current time belonged to the king and himself, he warned political leaders to vacate the Baluwatar and Singha Durbar just as the king peacefully left the palace after Nepal was declared a republic.

“If you don't leave, think about what will happen when the king and I declare a movement,” Prasai said, mentioning that on the 25th of Falgun (March 9), he would take former King Gyanendra Shah to Nirmal Niwas, in a peaceful manner.

Prasai claimed that current political leaders, including Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, and Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, had begun discussing the restoration of the monarchy.

He promised to create a movement where the police would support the restoration of the monarchy, and in return, police officers would receive a salary of 100,000 rupees per month.

He also claimed that the rebellion he started was forcing major political leaders to discuss the monarchy, describing it as a small spark that would soon grow into a bigger fire.

Prasai, whose campaign aims to reinstate the monarchy and Hinduism, declared that he would work towards the restoration of the monarchy and the cancellation of debts up to 2 million rupees.

He also mocked the remarks made by political leaders about former King Gyanendra Shah and threatened to bury them beneath their beds.

“On the 25th of Falgun (March 9), the king is coming. Let’s go to the airport and welcome him from all over Nepal,” he urged his supporters.
