Kathmandu, March 16 — Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Nirajan Bam, who sparked controversy by burning the photo of former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', has been apprehended by the Makwanpur police with assistance from the Chitwan police today.

On Saturday, at the Makwanpur District Convention of the National Democratic Youth Organization, a sister wing of the RPP, Bam launched a scathing criticism of Prachanda and ignited his photo in protest.

On Thursday, at an event in Melamchi, Sindhupalchok, Prachanda made strong remarks accusing former King Gyanendra Shah of fratricide and being a "statue thief".
