Mid-Kaligandaki project construction begins

Myagdi, March 6 — Construction of 66.3 MW Mid Kaligandaki Hydropower Project has begun in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi.
The Rusuwa Multi JV, a contractor mobilized in the project site, is the promoter of IME Group's Lagani Hydro Support Pvt Ltd.
The first phase of construction works has begun. Contractor Company's engineer Bidyut Jung Rawat informed that the construction of physical structure of the project has begun from the 200-meter-long approach culvert leading from the dam to the tunnel construction site.
According to the project, the target is to generate electricity by diverting water from the 4,800 meter long tunnel to the power house to be constructed in Annapurna-2, Naunibagar.
The tunnel is to be constructed from the inlet of Sukebagar, audit near Narchiang Bridge and outlet of Naulibagar.
As informed, the power house, switchboard and control room of the run-of-the-river nature project will be built underground.
The electricity from central Kaligandaki will be connected to the central system through a 220 kV substation at Dana, six kilometers above Naulibagar.
The project having an estimated cost of Rs 12.93 billion is expected to be completed within the next three years.a
