Democracy Day marked with grand ceremony at Tundikhel (photos)

Kathmandu, February 19 — Today, 7th of Falgun, marks National Democracy Day.

This day commemorates the end of the autocratic Rana rule through a people's revolution, after martyrs such as Dasharath Chand, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Gangalal Shrestha, and Sukraraj Shastri sacrificed their lives with smiles on their faces.

The day is being celebrated across the country with various programs to honor the revolution's success.

74 years after the establishment of democracy, sovereign Nepali citizens are now practicing their rights through a federal democratic republic system.

In this context, the government has grandly celebrated Democracy Day at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel.

The Democracy Day ceremony saw the participation of President Ramchandra Paudel, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, among other dignitaries.
