2 killed in separate traffic accidents

Kathmandu, February 10 — Two people have died in separate traffic accidents that occurred in different districts.

The accidents took place in Sunsari and Nuwakot, resulting in two fatalities.

In Sunsari, a pickup van with license plate number Province 1-02-002 Cha 5479 collided with a scooter with license plate number Province 1-02-051 Pa 4995 in Koshipul, Barahakshetra Municipality-1.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon, causing the death of 25-year-old Suman Rai, a resident of Triveni in Shahidbhoomi Rural Municipality-1, Dhankuta.

He was seriously injured in the crash and later died during treatment at BP Koirala Institute of  Health Sciences  in Ghopa, Dharan.

The police have detained the driver of the pickup van. 

In Nuwakot, a collision between a vehicle with license plate number Ba.Pr.06001 Ja 0439 and a motorcycle with license plate number Bagmati Province 02-023 Pa 2464 took place on the road at Likhu Rural Municipality-5, on Monday morning.

The motorcycle rider, 38-year-old Purushottam Lamichhane from Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, Rasuwa, died in the accident.

He succumbed to his injuries while being treated at Chirayu National Hospital in Basundhara, Kathmandu.

The motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries, and he is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

The police have also detained the vehicle driver, and an investigation into the accidents is ongoing.
