Biratnagar, February 2 — Shambhu Rauniyar, the chairman of Umagauri Agriculture Cooperative in Morang's Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality-4, has been sent to jail for further proceedings in a fraud case.

The Morang District Court, led by Judge Arun Kumar Jha, issued the order for Rauniyar's remand to prison on Sunday.

Following the court's directive, Rauniyar was sent to Morang Jail, as confirmed by the court's spokesperson Hem Bahadur Budhathoki.

Rauniyar is the main accused in the fraud case. He appeared in court on Monday, over 100 days after a warrant for his arrest had been issued.

The fraud case revolves around the embezzlement of over NPR 22.48 million from the cooperative.

After the police received a complaint, the Morang District Court issued a warrant for Rauniyar's arrest on September 18, 2024.
