Speaker Ghimire calls meeting with chief whips ahead of winter session

Kathmandu, January 26 — Speaker Devraj Ghimire has called a meeting with the chief whips of the political parties represented in Parliament.

According to Shyam Kumar Ghimire, the chief whip of the ruling party Nepali Congress, the meeting is scheduled for 11 AM on Monday.

Speaker Ghimire had earlier held discussions with the chief whips of the ruling parties, Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), to gather opinions on parliamentary matters.

The meeting, held in the Speaker's office at Singha Durbar, was attended by Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, and Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire.

"Speaker Ghimire sought to understand our views on some issues. Since everyone was in a rush, we didn't discuss much. The Speaker has now called for a meeting with all chief whips tomorrow morning at 11 AM," said Shyam Ghimire.

The meeting is part of the preparations for the winter session of Parliament, which is set to begin on January 31.
