ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup: Scotland defeats Nepal by 1 wicket

Malaysia, January 20 — Scotland Women Under-19 secured a dramatic 1-wicket victory over Nepal Women Under-19 in the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup encounter played in Malaysia.

Nepal set a modest total of 73 runs, and Scotland successfully chased it down, finishing with 74/9 in 18.4 overs.

Nepal's batting struggled throughout their innings, with Puja Mahato top-scoring with 27 runs off 43 balls. The middle order found it tough to build partnerships, as Sana Praveen (1), Sabitri Dhami (10), and Jyotsnika Marasini (4) were dismissed early.

Scotland's bowlers, especially Maisie Maceira, who took 5 wickets for just 15 runs, ripped through the Nepalese batting order.

Ammy Baldie (2 wickets) and Nayma Sheikh (2 wickets) also made significant contributions to Nepal's collapse, helping Scotland bowl them out for 73 in 18.5 overs.

In response, Scotland faced a few challenges as well, losing wickets regularly. However, Pippa Sproul played a crucial role in their chase, top-scoring with 35 runs off 47 balls.

Despite falling wickets around her, Gabriella Fontenla (12) and Kirsty McColl (6) remained calm under pressure, guiding Scotland to victory.

Seemana KC was the standout bowler for Nepal, claiming 2 wickets for 16 runs in 4 overs, while Rachana Chaudhary also contributed with 2 wickets for 13 runs in 3 overs.
