Detention hearing for Rabi Lamichhane resumes
Kathmandu, January 15 — The detention hearing for the suspended president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has resumed at the Kathmandu District Court.
Senior lawyer Sushil Panta is representing Lamichhane in the hearing.
The hearing continued on Wednesday after the police presented Lamichhane at the Kathmandu District Court.
Lamichhane had appeared in court on Sunday after charges were filed against him for embezzling funds from the Swarnalaxmi Multipurpose Cooperative in Kathmandu.
According to the police investigation, Lamichhane is accused of illegally taking 57.8 million rupees from the Swarnalaxmi Multipurpose Cooperative in Gorkha Media Network.
Following Sushil Panta's arguments, senior advocate Raman Shrestha will also present his case.
After their defense, the government attorney will respond, and the judge will decide whether to send Lamichhane to jail or allow him to fight the case from outside.
