Opposition parties term government arbitrary, demand parliamentary session
Kathmandu, January 15 — The opposition parties have stated that the government has become arbitrary. This declaration was made during a meeting of opposition parties held at the Maoist Parliamentary Party office in Singha Durbar.
The meeting opposed the government's decision to bring ordinances bypassing Parliament and demanded that the parliamentary session be called.
Maoist Center's Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun informed after the meeting that the opposition parties are prepared to demand a special session if the government fails to call the regular session of Parliament.
The meeting also formed a draft committee to develop a unified stance among the opposition parties in the coming days.
Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, and Deputy General Secretary Barshaman Pun were present from the Maoist Center.
From the Unified Socialist Party, Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, leader Beduram Bhusal, acting President of Rashtriya Swatantra Paty D.P. Aryal, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party leader Buddhiman Tamang, Chairman of Aam Janata Party Prabhu Sah, and Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party Mahendra Ray Yadav, among others, participated in the meeting.
