UML Chair Oli visits Shigatse of Tibet

Kathmandu - CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who is currently on a visit of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, visited Shigatse and Ngari prefecture today. 

Chairman Oli had arrived Shigatse via train from Lhasa. In Shigatse, Chairman Oli had a meeting with the party secretary of the Shigatse prefecture Chang Yangxing. 

On the occasion, Chang shared that the TAR government had accorded high important to its relations with Nepal and that a study was being carried out to open the transit points that was obstructed by the devastating earthquake in Nepal. Necessary infrastructure development is also taking place in the Chinese side in the transit points linking Rasuwagadhi and Kimathanka. 

Chang assured of full cooperation on behalf of the government of Tibet and Shigatse prefecture in implementing the agreements signed between the two countries during leader Oli's visit to China as the Prime Minister in 2016. 

Oli said that Nepal was willing to take advantage of China proposed One Belt One Road concept adding that the historical, geographical, commercial, religious and cultural relations between China's Tibet and Nepal would be further strengthened. 

Former PM Oli, who left Kathmandu for Lhasa on 22 July, was welcomed by Assistant Chairperson of Tibet Government, Vice Chairperson of Tibet's People's Congress and Nepali Counselor General of Nepal's Consulate General in Lhasa. 

According to UML leader Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Oli has returned Lhasa from Tibet's Ali area in the fourth day of the visit on Tuesday. 

In Lhasa, Oli visited famous religious and touristic areas including Potala Palace, Norbulinka Temple and other monasteries and temples in the town. 

Oli, who is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya and other team members, is returning home on Friday.
