Prosperity not possible with federal grants: CM Shahi

Surkhet– Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, has said that Karnali Province cannot become prosperous with grants provided by the federal government.

Addressing an interaction on 'Hydropower for the prosperity of Karnali Province' organised by Independent Power Producers' Association, Kathmandu, Chief Minister Shahi said that although the federal government has allocated 50 per cent budget of the total budget, it was not enough, and demanded that the federal government should give authority to the provincial government to generate funds to make the province prosperous.

Similarly, a separate arrangement was demanded for Karnali Province in course of formulating federal laws.
The Chief Minister also announced that the provincial government would not take tax from entrepreneurs until the investors get back full returns of their investment. He further said that a policy would be introduced where the people of the province should be employed for local production.
