No human rights violations in Lamichhane's case: Home Minister Lekhak

Kathmandu, December 14 — Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has stated that no one should interfere with the investigation into those involved in cooperative scams.

Speaking at a press meeting organized by the Nepal Press Union in Nawalpur on Saturday, Lekhak emphasized that in a democracy, justice must not be influenced by mob mentality, and that every activity should be evaluated through the judicial process.

Lekhak also commented on the case of Rashtriya Swatantra Party leader Rabi Lamichhane, denying any violation of human rights. He stated that the investigation is proceeding according to the court’s order.

“There has been no violation of human rights against Rabi ji. The government is committed to protecting the human rights of every individual,” Lekhak added. “Anyone involved in a cooperative scam will be investigated.”

The Home Minister also expressed concerns about the unfortunate activities of people gathering crowds and surrounding courts and judicial bodies when investigations are underway into the misappropriation of funds deposited by the public.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to sustainable development, peace, good governance, and prosperity.

He pointed out that economic activities were stagnant, good governance was absent, and development projects were not progressing rapidly due to the lack of a stable government, which led to the formation of the current coalition government.

Lekhak also addressed rumors about the current coalition, stating that it would remain intact until the 2027 elections. He asserted that the coalition was necessary for constitutional amendments and political stability, and that the government would work according to public demand.
