Hearing on UML's donated land dispute postponed

Kathmandu, December 10 — The hearing on the dispute regarding the land donated to the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist) for the construction of its party office has been postponed.

The delay occurred after the petitioner's lawyer informed the court that he needed to attend the Human Rights Conference in Pokhara, leading to the postponement of the hearing on Tuesday.

The case was scheduled to be heard before Justices Til Prasad Shrestha and Tek Prasad Dhungana. This case has been delayed previously as well due to scheduling issues.

Businessman Meen Bahadur Gurung had donated land to the party, which was later contested by lawyer Gyan Bahadur Basnet, who filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court.

A new hearing date will be set for the case.

On October 11, Gurung had announced the donation of 10 ropanis and 14 aanas of land in Maitrinagar, Kirtipur, Kathmandu, for the construction of the central office of CPN (UML).

On the same day, Prime Minister Oli and Gurung’s family jointly laid the foundation stone for the party's headquarters building.
