Kathmandu, December 10 — The government of Nepal has made public the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Cooperation Framework signed with neighboring country China.

The framework was signed during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to China on December 4.

The framework includes 10 key projects, which are the Tokha–Chhahare Tunnel, Hilsa–Simikot Road Project, Kimathanka–Khandbari Road and Kimathanka Bridge, the China-Nepal Cross Border Railway (on the Nepal side), and the Amarghadi City Hall Project.

Other projects include the Jilong-Rasuwagadhi Chilime 220 kV Cross Border Power Transmission Line, Madan Bhandari University, Kathmandu Scientific Center and Science Museum, China-Nepal Friendship Industrial Park, and the Jhapa Sports and Athletics Complex.

The agreement specifies that the Chinese side will provide technical and financial support to Nepal’s development efforts under the joint Belt and Road construction framework.

Both sides will work to ensure technical cooperation and provide necessary support for the projects according to the needs of both parties.

The agreement also emphasizes objective analysis of technical, financial, commercial, and economic feasibility for prioritized projects, ensuring "value for money."

Additionally, both sides will continue to call on international multilateral financial institutions to provide additional economic support for connectivity and development promotion.
