Rabi Lamichhane questioned by Parsa Police

Birgunj, December 9 — Former Home Minister and President of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has been questioned verbally by the Parsa Police.

As part of the investigation into the embezzlement of cooperative funds, Lamichhane was brought from Pokhara to Kathmandu and then to Birgunj on Monday. The police stated that only a general inquiry was conducted with Lamichhane on Monday.

His formal statement will be taken on Tuesday, according to the police. Parsa Police Chief Kumod Dhungel mentioned that the formal statement will be recorded in coordination with the District Government Attorney’s Office.

A police source confirmed that Lamichhane was provided accommodation in a VIP room at the district police office.

However, Parsa Police Chief Dhungel clarified that Lamichhane was not provided VIP facilities.

Lamichhane’s involvement in the mismanagement of funds at the Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative prompted the Parsa Police to seek an arrest warrant from the District Court. Based on this, the court issued an arrest warrant for Lamichhane.

Lamichhane, who had been in custody of the Kaski Police, was brought to Parsa for questioning. After the statement is recorded, he will be handed over to the Kaski Police.
