IGP Kunwar summoned by NHRC over Rabi Lamichhane's alleged mistreatment

Kathmandu, December 9 — The National Human Rights Commission has summoned Inspector General of Police (IGP) Basanta Kunwar.

He has been called to answer questions regarding the inhumane treatment of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, according to the Commission's Joint Spokesperson Shyambabu Kafle.

He stated, "He has been called today for a discussion."

On the night of December 5, at midnight, the police took Lamichhane from Chitwan to Pokhara.

The Nepal Police has faced widespread criticism for alleged inhumane treatment.

The RSP has filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission to investigate the matter.
