UML land dispute hearing scheduled for today

Kathmandu, December 8 – The dispute over the land for the office of the CPN (UML) party is scheduled for a hearing today.

The case will be heard before a bench of Supreme Court justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Nityananda Pandey. The hearing is set to take place under case number "Dha" today.

Previously, the case had been repeatedly scheduled, but hearings had not taken place.

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court against the land donated by businessman Meen Bahadur Gurung. After an interim order was issued on October 28, hearings were scheduled several times, but none of the hearings took place.

Advocate Gyan Bahadur Basnet filed the petition, requesting that the decision to donate the land to the CPN (UML) be annulled through an interim order. Initially, the Supreme Court administration had rejected the registration of the petition.

After an application was filed against the rejection, the bench led by Justice Til Prasad Shrestha ordered the registration of the petition, which was subsequently registered. The first hearing of the registered petition took place before a bench led by Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel, which issued an interim order.

Gurung had announced on October 11, that he would donate 10 ropanis and 14 aanaas of land located in Maitrinagar, Kirtipur Municipality-2, Kathmandu, for the construction of the CPN (UML) central office.

On the same day, Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli and his wife, along with Gurung and his spouse, jointly laid the foundation stone for the UML headquarters building. Despite this, the case has been repeatedly scheduled and postponed.
