Temperature drop, light rain and snow forecasted for Sunday
Kathmandu, December 7 — The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has announced that the weather will change starting from Sunday evening. In a special bulletin for the winter season, the department stated that a western low-pressure system, accompanied by westerly winds, will cause partial to moderate cloud cover across many parts of Nepal from Sunday evening onwards.
Due to the effect of this system, the department predicts light to moderate snowfall in many areas of the high hilly and mountainous regions of Sudurpashchim and Karnali provinces, as well as in a few areas of the high hilly and mountainous regions in Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces from Sunday evening to Monday night.
In addition, there is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in some parts of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces. A few areas in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces may also experience light rainfall.
The department also mentioned that temperatures are expected to drop, leading to an increase in cold weather. The special bulletin advises the public and concerned authorities to take necessary precautions and be prepared, as rain, snowfall, and cold temperatures may impact daily life, health, mountaineering, and air travel.
The Weather Forecasting Division is monitoring this system, and updates will be provided regularly in the three-day weather forecast bulletin issued by the division.
According to the Department's Weather Forecasting Division, tonight, there will be partial cloud cover in the country's hilly regions, with the rest of the regions having mainly clear weather. A few areas in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces may experience light rain or snowfall.
On Sunday morning, partial cloud cover is expected in the hilly regions, including Koshi province, while the rest of the country will experience clear weather with partial cloudiness. Light rain or snowfall is also possible in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
