Ministry issues directive for monthly salary to teachers

Kathmandu, December 6 — Based on a letter from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has issued a directive to local governments to arrange for the monthly payment of teachers' salaries and allowances.

The ministry stated, "Unless there is a provision for withholding a teacher's monthly salary or allowance under the Education Act, regulations, and prevailing laws, arrangements should be made for the monthly payment of the salary and allowances for the work done by the teacher."

Previously, the Ministry of Education had sent a letter to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration requesting that all local governments issue directives for the monthly payment of teachers' salaries, unless there is a provision to withhold them.

Based on this letter, the Ministry of Federal Affairs has now issued the directive to all local governments.

The Center for Education and Human Resource Development has been urging local governments to ensure the monthly payment of teachers' salaries. The center had issued a notice to all 753 local bodies across the country, asking them to ensure that teachers' salaries are paid monthly.
