EC issues explanation notice to six candidates for code of conduct violations

Kathmandu, November 29 — The Election Commission has issued explanation notices to six candidates for engaging in activities that violate the election code of conduct.

According to sources from the Commission, the candidates were found to have breached the code during an overnight monitoring session conducted by a team from the Election Commission. As a result, the candidates have been asked to clarify their actions.

The candidates in question are from Kirtipur Municipality and Kathmandu Metropolitan Ward No. 16.

Among those who have been asked to explain their conduct are Rajman Maharjan, Min Bahadur Manandhar, Shiva Sharan Maharjan, Sama Shakya, Rojina Shrestha, and Pashupati Kathayat.

Rajman Maharjan is running as an independent candidate for Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, while Shiva Sharan Maharjan is contesting for the same position under the Maoist Centre banner.

Min Bahadur Manandhar is a candidate for Ward Chair from Ward No. 16 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City with the CPN (Unified Socialist).

Pashupati Kathayat, Sama Shakya, and Rojina Shrestha are also running for Ward No. 16 of Kathmandu.

Kathayat and Shakya are standing as independent candidates, while Rojina Shrestha is representing the Rashtriya Swatantra Party.

The Election Commission continues to monitor the election process closely to ensure that all candidates adhere to the established rules and regulations.
