Local by-election: EC to announce results within two days of voting
Kathmandu, November 29 — The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the results of the local level by-elections, scheduled for December 1 will be made public within two days after the completion of voting.
Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya stated that the EC has made arrangements to announce the results for all local levels within two days.
"Most of the results will be available the day after the voting," Chief Thapaliya told Ratopati. "If there are no obstructions and the process goes smoothly, the results will be announced within two days after the election."
According to the law, the vote count can only begin after the ballots have been gathered and political party consensus is reached. Voting for 41 positions, including mayors, deputy mayors, rural municipality chairpersons, vice-chairpersons and ward chairs, will take place on Sunday, December 1.
