Durga Prasain presented before Supreme Court
Kathmandu, November 26 — Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasain, who was arrested for investigation on charges including forgery, electronic transactions, and money laundering, has been presented before the Supreme Court.
On November 23, Prasain's son, Nirajan Prasain, filed a habeas corpus petition, claiming that Durga Prasain was unlawfully detained and requesting an interim order for his immediate release. Judge Manoj Sharma's single bench ordered his appearance in court on Sunday.
Durga Prasain will give his statement today. His written response will be presented, and a hearing will take place, following which a decision on his release will be made. If the written response is not submitted today, it must be provided by the following day.
Prasain, who had been admitted to Bir Hospital for treatment, was returned to custody on Tuesday. Following the court's order, the police had admitted him to Bir Hospital on Sunday evening.
