Kathmandu Metropolitan City to officially deliver fine letter to UML

Kathmandu, November 24 — The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is set to formally deliver a letter regarding the fine imposed on the CPN (UML) party.

Rajunath Pandey, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Force, informed that the KMC would be delivering the fine-related letter to the UML party office in Chyasal on Sunday.

The KMC had decided to fine the UML party 100,000 rupees for improperly disposing of waste during a public awareness rally held on the open street of Durbar Marg on November 22. They were found to have littered the road and sidewalk carelessly.

The fine was imposed as the party did not fulfill its managerial responsibilities regarding waste disposal, as per the Waste Management Act, 2011, and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Financial Act, 2024.

Representatives from the KMC are expected to deliver the letter to the UML party office at 1:45 PM. According to Pandey, although the letter was prepared on Friday, it had not yet been formally handed over to the party. The UML has criticized the letter and the fine.
