Speaker Ghimire leads Nepali delegation to Cambodia for IPTP meeting
Kathmandu, November 23 — Speaker of the House, Devraj Ghimire, has reached Cambodia leading a five-member delegation to participate in the 11th meeting of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP).
Speaker Ghimire was welcomed by senior officials from the Cambodian Parliament at Phnom Penh International Airport, as informed by his press advisor, Shekhar Adhikari.
Speaker Ghimire left for Cambodia on Friday night, leading the Nepali delegation to participate in the event held in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, from November 23 to 26.
The delegation includes Member of Parliament Ishwar Bahadur Rijal, Speaker's Chief Personal Secretary Tej Prakash Bhattarai, and Deputy Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat Gopal Sigdel. Member of Parliament Eknath Dhakal, who is already in Cambodia, is also scheduled to attend the meeting.
The main theme of the IPTP discussions is "A Quest for Peace, Reconciliation, and Tolerance," with talks focused on peacebuilding, constructing frameworks for reconciliation and tolerance, and strengthening multilateralism and partnerships for cooperation and coexistence among governments, parliaments, and civil society.
Speaker Ghimire will address the meeting on behalf of Nepal's parliament, according to the Federal Parliament Secretariat.
During the visit, the Speaker is also scheduled to meet with delegations from Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Malaysia, Vietnam, and Laos. The delegation, led by the Speaker, is expected to return to Nepal on November 26.
