NRNA unity efforts hindered as office closed

Kathmandu, November 19 — Shesh Ghale, the coordinator of the high-level committee formed to resolve the dispute within the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and former president, has stated that unexpected actions were taken by the Badri KC faction.

He said that although he had called the high-level committee meeting on Tuesday with the intention of uniting the NRNA, it was wrong for the office to be closed.

On Tuesday, although Ghale arrived at the office for the high-level committee meeting, the office was closed, and the Badri KC faction had gone to a hotel in the capital for a strategic meeting. "The meeting was called with the hope of uniting the NRNA. This was unexpected," Ghale told reporters at the Baluwatar office complex. "However, we are looking for an alternative place to hold the meeting."

He added that today's meeting would discuss setting the date for the Unity General Assembly, and based on the discussions, conclusions would be drawn, and further steps would be taken.

Similarly, committee member Rabina Thapa also expressed that closing the common building of 8 million Non-Resident Nepali was wrong.

"I did not expect this. The organization’s building is a shared space for everyone," she said. "It is a building with everyone’s sentiments attached. I had even traveled from the U.S. for this meeting. The office was closed, and there were no staff. It was a bit upsetting."
