Prachanda lauds late Dhungana’s role in Nepal’s peace process

Kathmandu, November 18 — Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, has expressed deep admiration for the late Daman Nath Dhungana, crediting him with an unforgettable contribution to the peace process and the creation of an environment for the Constituent Assembly.

Prachanda said this on Monday at Sano Gaucharn while paying his final respects to the former Speaker.

Prachanda described Dhungana as a "historical figure in Nepal's democratic movement," whose role, alongside Padma Ratna Tuladhar, was significant in leading the country towards a democratic republic.

“Dhungana and Tuladhar created the conditions necessary for the peace agreement and the Constituent Assembly. Their contributions to Nepal’s journey towards a democratic republic will forever be remembered,” Prachanda said.

Reflecting on his personal relationship with Dhungana, Prachanda mentioned their collaboration during the preparatory stages of the peace agreement. He emphasized that the Nepali people will always remember Dhungana’s legacy as a democratic leader and his significant efforts in shaping Nepal's political transformation.
