RSP president Lamichhane being taken to Butwal for interrogation

Pokhara, November 12 — Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is set to be taken to Rupandehi today for questioning. The police escorted Lamichhane to the airport at 5:40 AM this morning. However, due to foggy weather, his flight has been delayed, and he is currently being held at the airport.

The police plan to complete Lamichhane’s statement and return him to Kaski today. Earlier, the Rupandehi District Court had granted permission to arrest Lamichhane, G.B. Rai, and 10 others for their involvement in an investigation into the alleged misuse of 142.9 million rupees from the Supreme Credit and Savings Cooperative in Butwal, which was allegedly spent at Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd.

According to reports from the Parliamentary Investigation Special Committee and the police, 19.6 million rupees from the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal were transferred to Lamichhane’s name, and 142.9 million rupees were sent through various individuals to Gorkha Media Network.

Lamichhane is currently in police custody in Kaski for a separate investigation into the mismanagement of funds at Suryadarshan Cooperative.
