UML calls secretariat meeting
Kathmandu, November 6 — The Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) has called a Secretariat meeting.
According to the party’s spokesperson, Rajendra Gautam, the meeting will focus on preparations for the local by-elections and recent political developments.
The meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, November 9, Gautam confirmed.
He further mentioned, “The Secretariat meeting on November 9 will analyze the preparations for the by-elections and provide necessary directions to the party committees.” CPN-UML has already instructed its district committees to finalize and submit the names of candidates for the by-elections by November 7.
The party has given authority to district committees to select candidates for various positions, including mayor, deputy mayor, chairperson, vice-chairperson, ward chairpersons for municipalities, and ward members for rural municipalities and municipalities.
The Election Commission has set November 17 as the deadline for filing nominations for the local by-elections, which are scheduled to be held on December 1.
