Tear gas fired at Rabi supporters for trying to breach restricted areas in Pokhara
Kathmandu, November 5 — As investigations continue against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in a cooperative fraud case, his supporters are protesting in Pokhara, claiming that he is being targeted as part of a vengeful plot.
During the protest, demonstrators tried to breach restricted areas, prompting the police to use tear gas. The protestors, who were trying to move from Barahi Chowk towards the designated restricted area at Shahid Chowk, faced police action as a result.
Participants in the protest have demanded the release of Lamichhane and called on the government to refrain from pursuing retaliatory politics.
Lamichhane was presented at the Kaski District Court on Tuesday for further investigation in the cooperative fraud case. Meanwhile, his supporters have gathered on the streets to pressure the government.
