Prachanda calls for serious review within communist parties

Kathmandu, October 30 — Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), stated that every communist party needs to conduct a serious review. While addressing an event in Kamaladi on Wednesday, organized to commemorate the birth centenary of founding member Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, he urged a review of the work done since joining the communist movement.

“Serious review within the communist party is necessary. It is not enough to simply talk about ideals while remaining in one place. A dialectical materialist approach must be employed for a thorough review,” Prachanda said. “I appeal to everyone: let’s review the good and bad work done since joining the communist movement. If every communist party conducts a sincere review with respect to the country and the people, we can identify our weaknesses.”

He emphasized that reaching socialism requires more than just recounting the heroic tales of the communist movement; ideological clarity is essential. Prachanda stressed the need to move forward with sincerity, as a significant amount of public support still lies with the communist party. He clarified that the main issue within the communist movement lies in differences in discourse and action.

On the occasion of Karmacharya's birth centenary, he announced plans to hold discussions throughout the year to establish the foundation for a socialist revolution.
