NC leader Thapa calls for investigation into cooperative fraud Involving party and UML leader
Kathmandu, October 28 — Gagan Thapa, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress, has stated that investigations should also be conducted against party Vice President Dhanraj Gurung and UML leader Rishikesh Pokharel, who have been linked to cooperative fraud. While addressing a program for the exchange of greetings among central bank employees in Kathmandu on Monday, he suggested that the government should investigate Gurung and Pokharel in connection with the cooperative scam.
Thapa emphasized that the government must instill confidence in the public that it will not compromise on the rule of law. He mentioned that people should feel the presence of the government and trust that there will be no compromises on the rule of law.
He also expressed the view that the government should take action to return the depositors' money in the cooperative case. He urged the government to start the process of returning small depositors' funds, even if it means selling the assets of those involved in the cooperative fraud.
Thapa called for action against all those found guilty in the cooperative case, stressing the need for full implementation of the parliamentary inquiry committee's report. He stated that the government should not hesitate to take action if any leader from any party is found at fault during the investigation.
