Students suffer in remote district as headmaster joins rural municipality as office assistant

Salyan – A school headmaster in the past now has changed his profession as an office assistant in a rural municipality in Salyan district. 

Hemanta Bahadur Thapa, who taught for eight years, has joined the Darma Rural Municipality as the office assistant for not getting salary while teaching. 

Thapa taught in Bal Kalyan Primary School from 2066 BS but was not provided with salary for the last two years.
Thapa said that he joined the school with a contract to collect Rs 1,200 per month but decided to quit the school after not getting the amount. The school had recruited Thapa to pay monthly salary on its own source. 

“I served in the school despite low income. But, I was obliged to quit the school for not getting the salary for the last two months,” he bemoaned. 

Meanwhile, the regular classes in the primary school were affected after the headmaster quit the school to join the rural municipality. 

Currently, the school with 31 students is run by a child development assistant for lack of permanent quota for teachers in the school. 
Child Development Assistant Nira Budhathoki said that she was facing difficulties to run the regular classes in the school. 
She added that the District Education Office has not released the money under the heading of PCF.
